I Could Care Less

By Pamela J. Wells

I could care less about gossip.

I could care less about
what my neighbor is doing.

I could care less
what your beliefs are,
your religion,
whether you have
different beliefs than mine.

I could care less if
you graduated with honors.

I could care less
what kind of car you drive or
how big your house is.

I could care less
about superficialities.

I could care less about
what celebrities are doing,
who is seeing who,
who is addicted to drugs,
or what they are wearing.

I could care less about
democrats, republicans, and
there endless fighting
that is really about their
own interests, greed, and wealth.

I could care less that
someone is
different than me,
looks different,
acts different.

I could care less if
someone weighs
more than I do or weighs
less than I do.

I could care less if
someone is a
different race than me.

I could care less about
others sexual orientation.

What I do care about………

What I do care about is
not one human being
going hungry or
even worse
starving to death.

What I do care about is
that every human being
has clean water to drink.

What I do care about is
that every single person
has a roof over their heads.

What I do care about is
that every human being
has clothes to wear and
shoes on their feet.

What I do care about is
the safety of
every individual,
especially children.

What I do care about is
that every child feels loved.

What I do care about is
that every child
is safe
from being bullied
by other kids
and adults.

What I do care about is
every foster child;
homeless child, teenager,
and adult.

What I do care about is
the elderly and
that they feel loved.

What I do care about is
health care and that
every
single human being
can get medical care
even when
they can’t afford it.

What I do care about is
human beings,
all life forms,
animals,
plants, trees, the planet,
and the environment.

These are the things that I care about most of all.

******************
The more people care less about all things superficial,
the more they open their heart to caring about what is important.

Inner Strength & Spirit Surpasses All
By Pamela J. Wells
Published June 27, 2011

If anyone knows what it is like to go from the feeling of hopelessness to living a life driven by a spirit and inner strength that catapulted him to where he is today, finding joy and purpose in inspiring others through his story, it is Nick Vujicic.

Born in Brisbane, Australia, Nick grew up with constant bullying at school. Born without arms and legs, he faced what seemed to be insurmountable challenges, not just physically, but challenges with his external environment, the taunting and rejection of his classmates was unbearable. His parents had decided to put him in a public school as opposed to a special school and still, to this day, they feel like they had made the right decision.

Tao Te Ching: 8th Verse

The supreme good
is like water,
which nourishes
all things
without trying to.

It flows to low places
loathed by all men.
Therefore, it is
like the Tao.

Live in accordance with
the nature of things.

In dwelling,
be close to the land.
In meditation,
go deep in the heart.

In dealing with others,
be gentle and kind.

Stand by your word.
Govern with equity.
Be timely in choosing
the right moment.

One who lives
in accordance with nature
does not go against
the way of things.

He moves in harmony
with the present moment,
always knowing
the truth of
just what to do.

Men & Women

~by Mooji (video)

There is a peace about love, a freedom to be yourself in all of your expressions.

Still to be open for change, this is, something needs to be dynamic. Not saying this is how I am, you have to accept me as I am. When you are meaning the ego. To accept me as I am, when you are consciousness, but when you are just ego and the tendency is toward insecurities and attachments, and fears, and all of these type of things, vulnerability, fear of rejection. All of these things come into play. So, it is very important for someone, first, to focus on your own freedom, because you bring more into a relationship.

Freedom is not free in order to have a better relationship, but somehow if a relationship happens inside your freedom then it will be a very beautiful thing.

Peace Is Absence of Disturbance

 ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi Dialogues

Q: Why did the Self manifest as this miserable world?

A: In order that you might seek it. Your eyes cannot see
themselves. Place a mirror before them and they see themselves.
Similarly with creation.

'See yourself first and then see the whole world as the Self.'

Q: So it amounts to this - that I should always look within.

A: Yes.

Q: Should I not see the world at all?

A: You are not instructed to shut your eyes to the world.
You are only to 'see yourself first and then see the whole
world as the Self'. If you consider yourself as the body the
world appears to be external. If you are the Self the world
appears as Brahman.

Q: What is the best way to work for world peace?

A: What is the world? What is peace, and who is the worker?
The world is not in your sleep and forms a projection of your
mind in your jagrat [waking state]. It is therefore an idea and
nothing else.

Peace is absence of disturbance. The disturbance is
due to the arising of thoughts in the individual, which is only
the ego rising up from pure consciousness.

To bring about peace means to be free from thoughts and to
abide as pure consciousness.

If one remains at peace oneself, there is only peace everywhere.

Inherent Within Us

~by Michael Bernard Beckwith

Our inner spirit is the most vibrantly real and ecstatic aspect of our being. It’s puzzling that we have to be educated in how to spiritually awaken, how to activate our soul-potential, especially when considering that enlightenment is inherent within us. It’s not a matter for philosophy, however, because the roots of our intellect do not reach deeply enough into our spiritual marrow to contact the source and purpose of our existence. Spiritual awakening is a journey of the heart. Every person’s heart is aflame to know its true nature, to commune with its Source. Lao-Tzu put it beautifully when he urged his students to:

“Use the Light That Dwells Within You To Regain Your Natural Clarity of Sight.”

~by Michael Bernard Beckwith from his book - Spiritual Liberation: Fulfilling Your Soul’s Potential

“If You Try To Win The War With Your Mind, You’ll Be At War Forever.”

~ Quote by Arvis Joen Justi

Arvis Joen Justi was Adyashanti’s Zen teacher. This was her response to his struggle with meditation and his attempt to calm his mind, control his thoughts, and trying to be still.

According to Adyashanti, “That really struck me. At that moment I realized I had been viewing meditation as a battle with my mind. I was trying to control my mind, to pacify my mind, to try to get my mind to be quiet."

Excerpt From Adyashanti's book "True Meditation: Discover the Freedom of Pure Awareness"

Suddenly I thought, “My goodness, forever is an awfully long time. I must come up with a whole different way of looking at this.” If continuing this way meant I was going to be at war with my mind indefinitely, I needed to find a way not to be at war with my mind. Without even knowing it I started to investigate, in a quiet and very deep way, what it would be like not to be at war with my own mind, with what I felt, with my whole human experience.

I started to meditate in a different way. I let go of the idea of what meditation was supposed to be. My mind had had a lot of ideas about meditation. It was supposed to be peaceful; I was supposed to feel a particular way, mostly calm. Meditation was supposed to lead me into some deep state of being. But because I could not master the technique of meditation as it was being taught to me, I had to discover a different way of meditating, one that wasn’t oriented around a technique. So I would sit down and let my experience simply be, in a very deep way. I started to let go of trying to control my experience. That became the beginning of discovering for myself what True Meditation is. From that point on, that shift – moving from trying to perfect a technique or discipline to actually letting go of technique and discipline – started to inform the way I engage in meditation.

Being & Enlightenment

~by Eckhart Tolle

There is an eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death. Many people use the word God to describe it; I often call it Being. The word Being explains nothing, but nor does God. Being, however, has the advantage that it is an open concept. It does not reduce the infinite invisible to a finite entity. It is impossible to form a mental image of it. Nobody can claim exclusive possession of Bing. It is your very presence, and it is immediately accessible to you as the feeling of your own presence. So it is only a small step from the word Being to the experience of Being.

Being is not only beyond but also deep within every form as its innermost invisible and indestructible essence. This means that it is accessible to you now as your own deepest self, your true nature. But don’t seek to grasp it with your mind. Don’t’ try to understand it.

You can know it only when the mind is still. When you are present, when your attention is fully and intensely in the Now, Being can be felt, but it can never be understood mentally.

To regain awareness of Being and to abide in that state of “feeling-realization” is enlightenment. The word enlightenment conjures up the idea of some superhuman accomplishment, and the ego likes to keep it that way, but it is simply your natural state of felt oneness with Being. It is a state of connectedness with something immeasurable and indestructible, something that, almost paradoxically, is essentially you and yet is much greater than you. It is finding your true nature beyond name and form.

The inability to feel this connectedness gives rise to the illusion of separation, from yourself and from the world around you. You then perceive yourself, consciously or unconsciously, as an isolated fragment. Fear arises, and conflicts within and without become the norm.

The greatest obstacle to experiencing the reality of your connectedness is identification with your mind, which causes thought to become compulsive. Not to be able to stop thinking is a dreadful affliction, but we don’t realize this because almost everybody is suffering from it, so it is considered normal. This incessant mental noise prevents you from finding that realm of inner stillness that is inseparable from Being. It also creates a false mind-made self that casts a shadow of fear and suffering.

Identification with your mind creates an opaque screen of concepts, labels, images, words, judgments, and definitions that blocks all true relationship. It comes between you and yourself, between you and your fellow man and woman, between you and nature, between you and God. It is this screen of thought that creates the illusion of separateness, the illusion that there is you and a totally separate “other.” You then forget the essential fact that, underneath the level of physical appearances and separate forms, you are one with all that is.

Surround Yourself With High Energy People.

Choose to be in close proximity
to people who are empowering,
who appeal to your sense of
connection to intention,
who see the greatness in you,
who feel connected to God,
and who live a life
that gives evidence
that Spirit has found
celebration through them.

The Eight Verses of Thought Transformation

With the thought of attaining Enlightenment
for the welfare of all beings
who are more precious than a wish-fulfilling jewel
I will constantly practice holding them dear.

Whenever I am with others, I will practice
seeing myself as the lowest of all
and from the very depths of my heart
I will respectfully hold others as supreme.

In all actions I will examine my mind
and the moment a disturbing attitude arises,
endangering myself or others,
I will firmly confront and avert it.

Whenever I meet a person of bad nature,
overwhelmed by negative energy and intense suffering
I will hold such a rare one dear
as if I’ve found a precious treasure.

When others out of jealousy
mistreat me with abuse, slander and so on
I will practice accepting defeat
and offering the victory to them.

When someone I have benefited and in whom
I have placed great trust, hurts me very badly
I will practice seeing that person
as my supreme teacher.

In short, I will offer directly and indirectly
every benefit and happiness to all beings, my mothers.
I will practice in secret taking upon myself
all their harmful actions and sufferings.

Without these practices being defiled
by the eight worldly concerns,
by perceiving all phenomena as illusory
I will practice without grasping to release all beings
from the bondage of the disturbing unsubdued mind and karma.

A Cup of Tea

Nan-in, a Japanese master
during the Meiji era (1868-1912),
received a university professor
who came to inquire about Zen.

Nan-in served tea.
He poured his
visitor’s cup full,
and then kept on pouring.

The professor watched
the overflow
until he no longer
could restrain himself.

“It is overfull. No more will go in!”

“Like this cup,” Nan-in said,
"you are full of your
own opinions and speculations."

"How can I
show you Zen
unless you
first empty your cup?”

A Quiet Mind Is All You Need

All else will happen rightly,
once your mind is quiet.

As the sun on rising
makes the world active,
 so does self-awareness
affect changes in the mind.

In the light of calm
and steady self-awareness,
inner energies wake up
and work miracles
without any effort
on your part.

Sri Ramana Maharshi Quotes

Happiness is your nature.
It is not wrong to desire it.
What is wrong is seeking it outside
when it is inside.

***************************************************************************************************

Nearly all mankind
is more or less
unhappy
because nearly all
do not know
the true Self.

Real happiness abides
in Self-knowledge alone.
All else is fleeting.

To know one's Self
is to be blissful always.

***************************************************************************************************

...Bliss is not something to be got.
On the other hand you are always Bliss.
This desire [for Bliss] is born of the sense of incompleteness.
To whom is this sense of incompleteness?
Enquire. In deep sleep you were blissful.
Now you are not so.
What has interposed between that Bliss and this non-bliss?
It is the ego.
Seek its source and find you are Bliss.

***************************************************************************************************

Wanting to reform the world
without discovering one's true self
is like trying to cover the world
with leather to avoid the pain
of walking on stones and thorns.
It is much simpler to wear shoes.

***************************************************************************************************

We loosely talk of Self-realization, for lack of a better term.  But how can one realize or make real that which alone is real? All we need to do is to give up our habit of regarding as real that which is unreal. All religious practices are meant solely to help us do this. When we stop regarding the unreal as real, then reality alone will remain, and we will be that.

***************************************************************************************************

'That inner Self, as the primeval Spirit,
Eternal, ever effulgent, full and infinite Bliss,
Single, indivisible, whole and living,
Shines in everyone as the witnessing awareness.

That self in its splendor, shining in the cavity of the heart
This self is neither born nor dies,
Neither grows nor decays,
Nor does it suffer any change.

When a pot is broken, the space within it is not,
And similarly, when the body dies the Self in it remains eternal.

***************************************************************************************************

Every living being longs always to be happy, untainted by sorrow; and everyone has the greatest love for himself, which is solely due to the fact that happiness is his real nature. Hence, in order to realize that inherent and untainted happiness, which indeed he daily experiences when the mind is subdued in deep sleep, it is essential that he should know himself. For obtaining such knowledge the inquiry 'Who am I?' in quest of the Self is the best means."

***************************************************************************************************

Reality is simply the loss of ego. Destroy the ego by seeking its identity.  Because the ego is no entity it will automatically vanish and reality will shine forth by itself.

"God dwells in you, as you, and you don't have to 'do' anything to be God-realized or Self-realized, it is already your true and natural state." Just drop all seeking, turn your attention inward, and sacrifice your mind to the One Self radiating in the Heart of your very being. For this to be your own presently lived experience, Self-Inquiry is the one direct and immediate way."

***************************************************************************************************

It is false to speak of realisation. What is there to realise?
The real is as it is always. We are not creating anything new or
achieving something which we did not have before. The illustration
given in books is this. We dig a well and create a huge pit. The
space in the pit or well has not been created by us. We have just
removed the earth which was filling the space there. The space
was there then and is also there now. Similarly we have simply
to throw out all the age-long samskaras [innate tendencies] which
are inside us. When all of them have been given up, the Self will
shine alone.

***************************************************************************************************

There is no greater mystery than this, that we keep
seeking reality though in fact we are reality.   We
think that there is something hiding reality and that
this must be destroyed before reality is gained.
How ridiculous!   A day will dawn when you will laugh
at all your past efforts.  That which will be the day
you laugh is also here and now.

***************************************************************************************************

Relative knowledge pertains to the mind and not to the Self.  It is therefore illusory and not permanent.  Take a scientist, for instance.  He formulates a theory that the Earth is round and goes on to prove it on an incontrovertible basis.  When he falls asleep the whole idea vanishes; his mind is left a blank.  What does it matter whether the world remains round or flat when he is asleep?  So you see the futility of all such relative knowledge.  One should go beyond relative knowledge and abide in the Self.  Real knowledge is such experience, and not apprehension by the mind.

***************************************************************************************************

'I exist' is the only permanent self-evident experience of everyone.  Nothing else is so self-evident as 'I am'. What people call self-evident, that is, the experience they get through the senses, is far from self-evident.  The Self alone is that.  So to do self-enquiry and be that 'I am' is the only thing to do. 'I am' is reality. I am this or that is unreal. 'I am' is truth, another name for Self.

***************************************************************************************************

"Heart" is merely another name for the Supreme Spirit,
because He is in all hearts.

The entire Universe is condensed in the body,
and the entire body in the Heart.

Thus the Heart is the nucleus of the whole Universe.

***************************************************************************************************

Your own Self-Realization
is the greatest service you can
render the world.

***************************************************************************************************

You and I are the same.
What I have done is surely possible for all.

You are the Self
now and can never be anything else.

Throw your worries to the wind,
turn within and find Peace.

Awareness Has No Stance

Instead of being in the middle of drama, remain in awareness. Do not attach yourself to what is being said. Your true self becomes lost in the drama and the false self (the ego) takes over. The ego attacks and defends its position. It’s a losing battle. Two or more egos, at war with words, only hurts each other’s egos. Do not immerse yourself in the drama. What is so important that you must lose your peace? Do not judge what the other person is saying. Do not attach yourself to it. Do not identify yourself with it. When you feel threatened by something that someone else is saying, your ego has taken over. Awareness has disappeared and you are engulfed in the drama. Let go and you will return to peace.

The Purpose of Life

~by Krishnamurti

So, we must find out very clearly what we mean by purpose, if there is a purpose. You may say there is a purpose: to reach reality, God, or what you will. But to reach that, you must know it, you must be aware of it, you must have the measure, the depth, the significance of it. Do we know reality for ourselves, or do we know it only through the authority of another? So, can you say that the purpose of life is to find reality when you do not know what reality is?

Since reality is the unknown, the mind that seeks the unknown must first be free from the known, must it not? If my mind is clouded, burdened with the known, it can only measure according to its own condition, its own limitation, and therefore it can never know the unknown, can it?

So, what we are trying to discuss and find out is whether life has a purpose, and whether that purpose can be measured. It can only be measured in terms of the known, in terms of the past; and when I measure the purpose of life in terms of the known, I will measure it according to my likes and dislikes. Therefore, the purpose will be conditioned by my desires, and therefore it ceases to be the purpose. Surely, that is clear, is it not?

I can understand what is the purpose of life only through the screen of my own prejudices, wants, and desires - otherwise I cannot judge, can I? So, the measure, the tape, the yardstick, is a conditioning of my mind, and according to the dictates of my conditioning, I will decide what the purpose is. But is that the purpose of life? It is created by my want, and therefore it is surely not the purpose of life.

To find out the purpose of life, the mind must be free of measurement; then only can it find out - otherwise, you are merely projecting your own want. This is not mere intellection, and if you go into it deeply, you will see its significance. After all, it is according to my prejudice, to my want, to my desire, to my predilection, that I decide what the purpose of life is to be. So, my desire creates the purpose. Surely, that is not the purpose of life.

Which is more important - to find out the purpose of life, or to free the mind itself from its own conditioning and then inquire? And perhaps when the mind is free from its own conditioning, that very freedom itself is the purpose. Because, after all, it is only in freedom that one can discover any truth.
